Mills appoints committee to probe Ghana@50

President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed a three member committee to investigate allegations of financial impropriety in the Ghana@50 celebrations.

They are former Auditor-General Kwesi Prempeh, a legal practitioner Mariet Brew Appiah and chaired by former Appeal Court Judge, Justice Isaac Dotse.

Presidential spokespersons Mahama Ayariga announced this Thursday at the Castle, Osu.

Joy News correspondent Steve Anti who reported from the Castle said the team's work is independent of the current series of interrogations of former officials ongoing at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

Whilst investigations by the BNI are aimed at investigating a wide range of issues, the three-member committee will focus only on the celebration of Ghana's 50th milestone.

The move is line with the president's campaign pledge to look into contracts signed under the Kufuor administration.
