Are you a pain in your neck?

Are you a pain in your neck?

It is often very easy to hear workers referring to a co-worker as a pain in the neck because of the usual office misunderstandings. Well, have you ever wondered who your biggest pain in the neck is? …YOU! How many times have you complained about that neck pain that won't go away, the pain that has travelled down your back and can be felt in your shoulder; the one that has almost become your reward for being the most dedicated worker?

Many workers spend a considerable amount of their productive time in their offices and only go home late in the night, thus it is ironic to see many workers spend lavishly on furnishings especially chairs for their homes (places they hardly stay in during the day and only sleep there at night), and rather care very little about their office furnishings.

It is an undisputed fact that other major factors like worn out joints due to ageing, injury, conditions like arthritis and other muscular problems are contributory factors to neck and back pain, but as much as it is often said that you are what you eat, the same can be said about where and how you sit.

Take a brief moment and examine your routine. You get to work as early as seven in the morning and immediately move to your seat (the uncomfortable, tilted, or overly fluffy, and loose one), your personal computer is below eye level and as such you have to move closer; bend to type in those valuable figures and usually do so for a considerable amount of time. It's lunch and you immediately slouch into your driver's seat and head for lunch through the stress of traffic, at the restaurant you bend towards the table to reach for food-yummy! On your way back, the slouching and tension continues till you reach the office and assume the same posture as above. What's more, you are on the office phone whiles your cell beeps; you smartly tuck your office phone between your ear and shoulder whiles you attend to your cell.

Does any of the above sound familiar? I thought so too! Well, you cannot continue to undermine your health on a daily basis because of poor posture. You hold the key to eliminating that excruciating pain!

How about the stressful nature of your job? On a scale of one to ten, how do you rate your personal stress level? Many employees unfortunately compound their stress on a daily basis. Constant complaining about a situation or colleague who is set in his or her ways is meaningless until you decide on a relevant next step and pursue it. Stress causes tensed muscles and culminates in pain. As such you might well be the cause of your pain! Nag on some pain!

However, more can be done to alleviate neck and back pain. Pain is an indication of degeneration in the body! Communication between the brain and other organs of the body is made possible by nerve flow which is housed in the spine. Factors like poor posture and stress causes some of the spine bones to move out of their original positions; thereby obstructing free nerve flow. Without a perfect functioning nervous system, some organs of the body would degenerate and trigger symptoms; common among these is pain. There is thus the need to seek assistance from Trained Professionals who can help get to the root cause of conditions such as pain.

Numerous studies abound about the effectiveness of chiropractic in eliminating nerve flow interferences. Practical posture correcting measures coupled with a trip to a chiropractor might be all you need to eliminate the pain in your neck!
