Rainstorm rips off roof of classroom block

Nkoranza (B/A), May 27, (Credit Adu Simon) GNA – A rainstorm has ripped off the roofing of the three classroom blocks of Effah Presbyterian Junior High School at Nkoranza, displacing 85 students.

A number of text books have also been destroyed.

Mr. Akorsah Baafi-Brempong, the Headmaster of the school, told the GNA that the school had suffered suffered several rainstorms.

“Such disasters have rendered the whole school block weak with some of the roofa leaking”, he said.

Mr. Baafi-Brempong said the school had not be rehabilitated since it was built in 1961 and called on the Nkoranza South District Assembly to assist the school.

He appealed to officials of Nkoranza District office of the National Disaster Management Organisation to arrange some relief items for the school.

Reverend Emmanuel K. Osei, manager in-charge of Presbyterian schools in Nkoranza, said management of the church would meet to discuss alternative accommodation for the students.

He also appealed to NADMO to assist in the rehabilitation of the school.
