Breman Asikuma (C/R), May 17, GNA-Members
of Breman Asikuma and Brakwa Circuits of the Methodist Church Ghana have donated a total of 750 pints of blood to Our lady of Grace Hospital in Breman Asikuma.

Mr. Alfred Grant-Hutchful, Biomedical Scientist in charge of the hospital laboratory disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Breman Asikuma.

The occasion forms part of activities marking the 60 Anniversary celebration of the Winneba Diocese of the Lay Movement Council of the Church of which the circuits form part, he said.

Mr Grant-Hutchful on behalf of the management of the hospital thanked the church for the gesture which, he said would help save lives.

According to Mr. Grant-Hutchful every healthy human being has between 5-6 litres of blood in him or her and that only 450 milligram (1 fanta bottle) is extracted from donors which is less than 10 percent of the total blood volume, adding that, blood donation would not endanger donors' health.

He therefore appealed to other people to emulate the members and donate blood to save lives, especially accident victims.

Mr Grant-Huchful said the hospital needed blood for the increasing anaemic patients and women after delivery.
