The Majority Leader and MP for Nadowli West, Hon Alban Sumana Bagbin has admonished the press to enhance the flow of information from government to the people and vice versa. He said misrepresentation by the press on the state of affairs or events in the country will not help the country. Hon Bagbin made these statements at a news conference in Accra on a publication by the Daily Guide newspaper dated 12th May 2009 and captioned “Kufuor Ex-Gratia Wahala – Bagbin Bombshell”.

The story was about some remarks that according to the Daily Guide, were allegedly made by Hon. Bagbin about the Chinery Hesse committee's report on gratuity for MPs and the President, during an interaction between journalists at Kumasi and a Parliamentary delegation led by Hon. Alban Bagin on Monday May 11th 2009. The Daily Guide among other things quoted Hon. Bagbin to have allegedly stated that he Bagbin had come to believe that many people like him were misled into raising unnecessary red flags about the Chinery Hesse Committee's report. Hon Baghin told the press that all the quotations in the Daily Guide report attributed to him, were totally untrue and mere fabrication to misinform the public. Hon Bagbin said he has no intention of taking any action against the Daily Guide newspaper nor demand an apology from it.
