Man bites lower lip of his brother-in-law over a woman

Fiapre, May 15, GNA - A circuit court at Fiapre near Sunyani has sentenced a 21-year-old kente weaver, Kwaku Boateng, to five years imprisonment in hard labour for biting the lower lip of his brother-in-law in a fight over a woman at Atronie in Sunyani Municipality.

Boateng pleaded guilty to a charge of causing harm. A second accused person Kofi Amoako, a 20-year-old electrician who pleaded not guilty to the charge of abetment of crime, was remanded in prison custody.

Police Chief Inspector Lydia Acheampong told the court that on the night of April 12 a struggle ensued between the three over a woman at a dance at Atronie and Boateng in the process bit off the lower lip of his in-law.

Chief Inspector Acheampong said some people around rushed the victim to the Regional Hospital in Sunyani where he was admitted.
