MTTU arrests 78 drivers

Kumasi, May 13, GNA - The Ashanti Region Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) has arrested 78 drivers who failed to remove the tint on their glasses.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Abraham Bansah, the Acting Regional Commander of the MTTU, told the GNA in an interview that the action was to help reduce criminal activities.

He said on April 20, 58 drivers were arrested and out of that number, 42 were sent to court whiles the remaining 16 were issued with warning letters.

On Monday, May 4, 2009, the MTTU again arrested 20 drivers for failing to comply with the order, making the number 78.

He said they were taken to court and fined between 300 and 400 Ghana cedis based on the degree of the tint on their glasses.
