Ms Elizabeth Adjei The Director of Immigration Service, Elizabeth Adjei has called on public agencies in the country to collaborate in tackling the menace of document fraud in the country.
The menace of document fraud, according to her, has a wider effect on the credibility of the country.
She therefore stressed the need for collaboration among public agencies to help minimize the menace and also help the early detection of fraudulent travel documents.
She made this call at the closing ceremony of a four-day workshop on Standard Operating Procedures in the issuance of public documents organized for six public agencies in Accra.
Julia Olmo Romero, Spanish Ambassador, who was the guest of honor at the function, on her part, said knowing the negative effects document fraud has on the security of the nation, it is crucial to tackle it in a holistic manner.
Some of the documents in question include the Ghana passports, birth and death certificates, company registration certificates, and bank statements to mention a few.
The workshop was organized by the Ghana Immigration Service in collaboration with the European Union and the Spanish Embassy.
In all, a total of 33 participants from the Ghana Immigration Service, Police (CID), Passport Office, Births and Deaths Dept, Registrar General's Dept and the Bank of Ghana attended the workshop.
The aim of the workshop was to equip participants with new skills in collating and analyzing intelligence data to design strategies in the fight against document fraud.
