Accra, May 5, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will honour 17 distinguished personalities who have made contributions to enhance his reign.


Those to receive Special Honour of Recognition on the 10th Anniversary of his ascension to the Golden Stool are Dr. Sir Kwame Donkor Forduor, economist and management consultant who will be conferred with the title Kantinka; Dr. Sir Sam Jonah, ex–Chief Executive Officer of AngloGold Ashanti; Nana Osei Bonsu, a Tema-based businessman; Papa Dadson, a Kumasi-based legal practitioner, all of whom will receive Osomfo Award.


A statement received in ACcra on Tuesday from Manhyia said others in the Osomfo Award category include, Mr Benjamin Amponsah Mensah an industrialist; Mr Kofi Badu and Mr Kojo Yanka, journalists and consultants; Nana Kwadwo Nyantakyi II (Sanaahene); Archbishop Emeritus Peter Akwasi Sarpong, retired Catholic Bishop of Kumasi Diocese; The Most Rev Bishop Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Archbishop of St Cyprian's Anglican Church Kumasi and His Grace Dr. Justice Offei Akrofi, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of West Africa.


The rest are Prof. Joseph Woahen Acheampong, a medical consultant and physician specialist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH); Dr Charlotte Abeka, a dentist, Nana Akua Yaa Ode, a royal, Nana Akosua Akyaama II Juabenhemaa, Nana Adoma Serwaa (aka Nana Doh); Nana Akua Dum (Nana Poh), a royal and Nana Akua Agyaman.


The awards will be presented at a special Dinner Dance to be organized at the Manhyia Palace Gardens under the distinguished chairmanship of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.


Otumfuo Osei Tutu has already honoured five former African Heads of state in recognition of their contribution to the growth of deepening democracy in the continent as part of the 10th anniversary celebration.
