Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the exercise, Rev Father Francis Prempeh, Youth Chaplain said the Church held the walk every May 1, to create awareness on malaria and HIV/AIDS among other diseases.

He said this started five years but the youth decided to create awareness on the Hepatitis (B) disease this year, which according to health reports was surfacing in the municipality.

He said Hepatitis (B) is a blood related disease which could also be contracted through sexual intercourse.

Rev Father Prempeh said the health walk would be extended to all the 12 branches of the Agona Swedru Diocese to inform the members and non members about the disease.

He said the church had contacted the Municipal Directorate of Health Services to organize programmes to educate members on the dangers of the disease.

Mr Bright Amissah-Nyarkoh, Youth President urged the youth to desist from pre-marital sex and immoral acts to avoid contracting the dreadful disease that still had no cure.
