Nigerians have been advised not to misconstrue the ongoing re-branding campaign by the Federal Government to mean changing the faces of their offices, interiors and equipment.

Mrs Mavi Isibor, Chief Executive Officer of POISE Nigeria, Lagos, gave the advice on Wednesday in Lagos while delivering a lecture, organised by Lagos State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).

The lecture was entitiled: ``Re-branding the Nigerian Female Journalist.''

``The only workable re-branding we can have in Nigeria is changing the mindset and character of Nigerians, such that it manifests in their lives,?? she said.

Isibor said that Nigerian female journalists, as well as their male counterparts,

had image problems.
She urged them to change their perception of the job and themselves,

especially in relation to their appearance, honesty and receiving of brown

envelopes.

``Journalists must make themselves to be perceived through their advocacy

as people to be reckoned with,?? she said.
According to her, re-branding entails changing the character of the journalist to uphold the integrity of the profession.

Earlier, the State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs Tosin Odusola, had said that the lecture was organised to elevate respect for female journalists.

Isibor said it was necessary for the government to take up the campaign to

all nooks and crannies, adding that there should be emphasis on the youth.
