IPR Team Calls Times MD
The Institute of Public Relations, Ghana has urged the New Times Corporation (NTC), to take up corporate membership with the IPR. This, according to the institute would afford staff of the NTC, especially Journalists the opportunity to benefit from training and other capacity building programmes of the institute.
The President of IPR, Mrs Vicky Wireko-Andoh, made the call when she led a delegation of council members of the institute to pay a courtesy call on the Managing Director of NTC, Mr Kofi Asuman.
She said apart from the training programmes, the NTC, could also benefit from the institute's other service as and when they were needed, stressing that it was time media oreganisations, as corporate bodies took issues concerning image building and protection seriously.
She expressed the hope that the visit would pave the way for mutual relations between the two organisations.
A member of the delegatin, Mr Parry P. K. Ofosu observed that most media organisations were without proper public relations outfits and it was necessary for them to put in place such an image building and protection tool.
Mr Asuman, thanked the institute for its initiative and assured the delegation of the corporation's readiness to work with them.
He acknowledged the need for a sound Public Relations department for the NTC, staffed with qualified personnel and
said management would consider the invitation to the corporate membership initiative of the IPR.
