Sunyani West MP donates computers to school

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sunyani West Constituency, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has donated five desktop computers and one laptop computer, worth GH¢4,000, to the Chiraa Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High School, as part of measures to enhance computer studies in the area.

The laptop goes to the teacher in charge of computer studies. He promised the school another consignment of five computers next month.

Making the presentation, Mr. Baffour Awuah observed that computer literacy had become a requirement for the job market, and entreated pupils and teachers to attach great importance to computer studies.

He commended the school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for initiating the computer project for the school, and pledged to offer continuous support.

Mr. Baffour Awuah urged the teachers to make the learning of the computer exciting for the pupils, and reminded parents not to shirk their responsibilities.

The former Regional Minister appealed to the people to avoid divisions, because of political affiliations, to promote socio-economic development.

The Chief of Chiraa, Nana Afari Mintah II, charged the teachers, parents and the community to ensure that the new educational reforms succeed, by executing their responsibilities effectively.

He also urged parents to invest in the education of their children, and desist from pronouncing curses on children, at the least provocation.

Nana Mintah commended the MP for assisting the school, and encouraged him to remain a role model for the community.

Mrs. Sophia Obiri Yeboah and Mr. Olo Christopher, Headmistress and Headmaster of the Chiraa RC Primary and JHS respectively, thanked the MP for the donation, and pledged to put the facilities to good use.

Mrs. Obiri Yeboah appealed to the MP to assist the school re-roof the classrooms to address the problem of leakages during the rainy season. Mr. Olo also urged past students to come to the aid of the school.
