A Kade District Magistrate's court on Tuesday fined Kwaku Amoako, a baker, GH¢500 on his own plea for stealing GH¢120 belonging to his employer Faustina Ofori Agyabeng.

The court ordered Amoako to refund the money to his employer.

In default of the fine he would serve nine months imprisonment in hard labour.

Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court that Amoako worked at the bakery of Madam Faustina Ofori Agyabeng at Kade.

He said on March 10, at about 1130 hours, the complainant gave the accused a quantity of bread for distribution to her customers and collect GH¢120 from one of them.

Police Inspector Cobbina said when the complainant did not receive the money she went to the customer to enquire and was told that the accused had collected the money.

He said the accused went into hiding until the following day when the complainant had information that he was at Pramkese and organised some men to arrest him who handed him over to the police and after investigations charged with the offence.
