A 40 year old butcher, who allegedly threatened to butcher his wife on several occasions has been granted a GH¢10,000 bail by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Yussif Nartey is said to have constantly threatened to slash the wife at the least provocation, but he denied the offence.
He would reappear on Wednesday, April, 15, this year.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Nana Amofa told the court presided over by Mr Eric Baah, that Nartey had been married to the complainant Andrea Bugri for some years and that the marriage had been blessed with four children.
The accused and the family live in the same house at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.
He said the relationship between the couple had suddenly turned sour and Nartey has asked the wife a number of times to leave his house.
The accused, who has another wife, on February 18 this year, again asked his wife to choose between leaving the house and being cut into pieces.
With some trepidation, Andrea left and sought refuge in a nearby house, whilst her 15 year old son made a report to the Barekese police.
Nartey was arrested and after preliminary investigations, he was arraigned.
