Charles Averbila 29, a chop-bar attendant has been arrested by Suame police for allegedly murdering two of his children at Kronoum-Kwapra, a suburb of Kumasi.
David Averbila, seven, died from severe cutlass wounds inflicted on him, while his junior brother Alidu Nsor, aged three, is on admission at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Police Lance Corporal Gordwin Ahianyo of Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspect, lived with his wife and three children.
He said the couple had been married for eight years.
Police Lance Corporal Ahianyo said on Tuesday, March 24, at about 2230 hours, the suspect picked a quarrel with his wife over GH¢90, he claimed he gave to her for safe-keeping but she denied receiving the money.
He said unable to withstand her husband's anger, she left the house with their 11-month-old baby leaving the two boys behind to inform her husband's senior brother to intervene to calm him down.
Police Lance Corporal Ahianyo said the woman returned to find her children lying in a pool of blood, and raised the alarm that attracted people to the scene, who assisted to convey the children to KATH where David was pronounced dead on arrival.
He said the incident was reported to the police who arrested the suspect and would be prosecuted after investigations.
