Two students of Toase Senior High School die in road accident while jogging

Two students of Toase Senior High School (SHS) were killed when a motor bike run through a group of students who were jogging on the Nkawie-Nyinahin trunk road at the week-end.

Bernard Adu, a first year student and Adjei Kasum a second year student, died instantly, while two others who received serious injuries on admission at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi are responding to treatment.

Eight other students who received minor injuries were treated and discharged.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Peter Ofori-Donkor, Nkawie Police Commander, speaking to Ghana News Agency, denied media reports that 12 students died in the accident.

He said the corpses had been deposited at KATH mortuary for autopsy, while

Mr Ernest Yeboah, the motor rider, had been placed in police custody.

DSP Ofori-Donkor said the accident happened on a spot near Wiaso on the Nkawie-Nyinahin road at about 7:30 hours.

When GNA visited the school on Monday morning, the campus was quite with both teachers and students in mournful mood.

Mr James Agyei Boateng, Headmaster, said the accident was a big shock to the school authorities and students.
