Guinness Ghana has announced that 2009 will be a remarkable year, as the distinctive beer reaches 250 years old.

The Managing Director of GGBL, Mr. Seni Adetu made this known to the Media, Trade Partners and Consumers who took part in a grand celebration to unveil the new outlook for the iconic brand, Guinness, at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Friday.

“We are delighted to announce that 2009 is our 250th year and that we are kicking off the remarkable year with the reveal of a brand new look for Guinness. In this milestone year, we are looking forward to a number of special brand events to celebrate the Greatness of Guinness. Details of how we will recognise our loyal consumers, employees and trade partners will be released in due course,” he noted.

The Marketing Director of GGBL, Ama Okyere, on her part said, while the look will change, the distinctive roasted taste, dark colour and unique aroma of the brand will remain the same and true to the original recipe, the founder of Guinness, Arthur Guinness who first created it in 1759. Guinness is truly distinctive.

“It is the glorious combination of finest quality natural ingredients, its unique secret recipe and its exceptional 250 year heritage that ensure that there is Greatness in every drop of Guinness brewed and savoured”, she said.

Since it was first launched in 1759, Guinness has become one of the iconic brands of all time. The label will now have a more modern design that reflects its status as one of the most distinct and iconic international brand, which mirrors the lifestyles and aspirations of the brand's many loyal consumers. The quality stamp of the Arthur Guinness signature reinforces the 250 years of heritage and premium qualities.

Over its 250 year history, the Guinness brand has become a global success story through its iconic advertising and long standing role in local communities. Africa has played an intrinsic part in that success and the Greatness of Guinness has been enjoyed across Africa since 1827 when the first export of Guinness was made to the Continent.
