Teachers urged to live above reproach

Mr. Joseph Clement Amoah, Asante Akim South District Director of Education, has asked teachers to live above reproach to enable them to win the confidence of their students.

The educationist who was addressing a day's orientation workshop for 70 newly trained teachers at Juaso on Tuesday, reminded teachers that they were role models and had influence on their students.

The workshop, organized by the District Directorate of Education was to sensitize participants on the ethics of their profession.

Mr Amoah entreated the newly trained teachers to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the discharge of their duties to promote efficiency in the service.

He asked them to update their skills and knowledge so that they could cope with the New Education Reform.

Mr. Kwabena Danso, District Human Resource and Development Officer of GES, asked teachers to be diligent, disciplined and eschew lateness, absenteeism and alcoholism, which according to him were counter productive.

Mr. Kennedy Osei Yaw, District Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), applauded the District Directorate of Education for organizing the workshop and urged teachers to be committed to their work.
