Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, has described as noble and laudable, the establishment of cadet corps in second cycle schools to enhance discipline and excellent academic results.

He said it would also expose students to variety of ideas and build in them, right attitudes, relevant skills and knowledge to enable them contribute meaningfully to the nation's growth.

Mr Onyinah made the observation at the inauguration of Effiduase Senior High and Commercial School Cadet Corps at Effiduase in Sekyere East District at the weekend.

He said, the swift changes in all spheres of campus life behove on school cadet corps to be adequately prepared to handle and manage cases in exceptional and professional manner to maintain peace and serene academic environment.

Mr Onyinah urged the cadet corps to strictly abide by the school's rules and regulations and lead life worthy of emulation.

Mr Kwaku Obeng-Boateng, Headmaster of the school was optimistic that, the cadet corps would help students to refrain from acts of lawlessness, insubordination, disrespect and unruly behaviour.

He said the training they acquired would make them patriotic, nationalistic and hardworking.

Mr Obeng-Boateng observed that, a well educated and disciplined youth was a great asset to the progress, peace and stability of the country.

Nana Adu Ameyaw II, Effiduasehene, commended the school authorities for their initiative to establish a cadet corp.

However, he said they could play their role effectively and efficiently when given adequate guidance by the teachers and other stakeholders in order not to abuse the trust reposed in them.
