Court remands mason for possessing fake currency

The Nsawam District Magistrate Court, on Friday remanded Kwaku Attiyei, a 32-year-old mason, at the Nsawam Maximum Security Prisons, for allegedly possessing fake currency notes.

The plea of the accused was not taken, and he is to reappear on March 31.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Anthony Oppong, told the court presided over by Justice Wilberforce Albert Mensah that a businessman whose name is being withheld by the police, sold a mobile phone card worth 7.00 Ghana Cedis, to the accused, who paid for with a fake 10.00 Ghana cedi- note, leading to his arrest.

The prosecutor said another fake 65.00 Ghana cedis were found in the pocket of the accused during police interrogation.
