Reverend Dr Joseph Obiri Yaw Mante, Chairperson for the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has appealed to agents of the church to use modern methods in their evangelism to bring more people into the church.

He said the time had come for them to ensure that all the empty spaces during worship in their churches should be filled with converted souls for Christ.

Rev Dr Mante said this at a day's sensitization and capacity building workshop for some catechists within the presbytery at Akropong.

The workshop, which was organized by the Department of Church Life and Nurture of the Presbytery, brought together more that 80 catechists on Akuapem ridge to be equipped with modern ways of church leadership and evangelism.

He said the only way the church could be attractive to the outside world was when the old ways of worship gave way to new and modern strategies by way of preaching, bible studies, praises and worship.

He said his major priority this year was to ensure that membership of the presbytery increases by 10 percent and therefore appealed to all the agents to work hard for them to achieve their set target.

Rev Dr Mante urged them to avoid any tendencies that could retard the progress of the church and lead lifestyles worthy of emulation.

The Director of Church Life and Nurture of the presbytery, Rev Daniel Owusu Ansah, said the workshop was first of its kind in the presbytery to equip the catechist to adopt modern strategies of evangelism to win more souls for Christ.

He said more of such workshops would be organized for group leaders to prepare them for the challenges ahead.
