A circuit court in Goaso has sentenced a 29-year-old unemployed, Mohammed Dramani, to a fine of GHC 300 or in default to serve a six month jail term for stealing a pregnant goat.

Dramani pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Erasmus Ofori told the court that Mr. Enoch Addai, a trader and livestock owner and Dramani reside at Bobkrom in Goaso.

He said on March eight Mr. Addai detected that his pregnant goat was missing and he told neighbours to help him to trace it.

Chief Inspector Ofori said they later in the day had information that Dramani had stolen the animal and was offering its meat for sale to one Auntie Ama.

He was arrested by members of the unit committee and handed over to the police.
