President Mills Joins Muslims To Celebrate Birth Of Prophet Mohammed

An excited and milling crowd yesterday welcomed President John Evans Atta Mills to the palace of the Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at Fadama in Accra.

President Mills was at the palace to join Muslims to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, Founder of Islam.

President Mills, donning a full piece agbada, said it was an honour and privilege to join Muslims on the eve of the celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

'We are all children of Allah. If you are celebrating this important event, all of us should join forces to give praise to Allah during the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet,' he said.

President Mills urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray and seek Allah's blessings for Ghana.

Mr Yahya Amin, a Muslim Theologian, explained that the birth of Prophet Mohammed called the 'Mawlidu Nnabiyyi', occurred on March 14. He invited other religious sects to join in the celebration.

Mr Mahama Mohamed, Spokesman for the Chief Imam was optimistic prayers offered at the celebration will assist President Mills to rule successfully.

President Mills donated GH¢2,000 cash, and 30 crates of soft drinks towards the celebration.
