Five People whose identities are yet to be established met their untimely death on Wednesday night at the Kintampo-Magazine Junction, after they accidentally treaded on an electrical cable which fell on the ground following a downpour.

The five, four females and a male, who were returning to their villages, were on board a KIA truck with registration number GT 8488Q which was heavily-loaded with both human beings and foodstuffs after the day's trading activities in Kintampo.

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred around 7.30 pm on Wednesday.

He said upon reaching the Magazine Junction which leads to Krampomso and Anyima, the driver of the KIA truck was prompted to stop by some of the passengers who had reached their destination.

The eyewitness said as soon as they touched the ground which was soaked with water following the heavy rains, the five were struck by an unusual light and they died instantly.

The dead were later conveyed to the Kintampo Government Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

According to Dr. Damien Pumguyire, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, the dead bodies were brought to the hospital early on Thursday morning by the police.

He said after a postmortem was carried out on the corpses, it was established that they died out of burns on their bodies, particularly their cheeks and arms, suggesting that it was electrical burns.

He mentioned that family members of some of the deceased were in the process of clearing their dead relatives from the morgue for burial.
