The Obuasi Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Beatrice Boakye Prempeh, has called on heads of basic schools to continue sharing  good practices that will help to improve the quality of education delivery.

She said such exchanges would also help the heads to gain experience in managing the human, material and financial resources of their schools.

Mrs. Prempeh was speaking at a three-day management training workshop for more than 100 basic schools heads from the municipality at Obuasi.

She commended the heads for their hard work and urged them to continue to put in more efforts to enable the municipality to achieve the best of results.

Mrs.Prempeh reminded them that management  involved planning, budgeting, coordination, monitoring, supervision and the implementation of programmes and activities.

She therefore advised the heads to engage their teachers in such activities for effective school management. “You have a lot to do and I am happy that you are doing as expected of you,” she said.

Mrs. Prempeh said in-service training is very important to the teacher and announced that  the Ghana Education Service had made it a requirement for all kinds of promotions in the service.

Among the topics treated at the workshop were school record keeping, vetting of lesson notes, duties of a headteacher, the headteacher as a financial administrator and good human relations, disbursement and utilisation of the capitation grant, preparation of School Performance Improvement Plan (SPIP), relation between the school and community, and budget preparation and auditing.
