Kwamankese chiefs want DCE to come from the area

The Chiefs and people of Kwamankese Traditional Area in the Central Region, have made an appeal to the President Professor John Evans Atta Mills to appoint a citizen of the area as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese.

The Omanhene and President of the Kwamankese Traditional Council, Nana Idan Andoh X, made the appeal on behalf of the Council at a news conference at Ayeldu.

He said the District Assembly with its capital at Abura-Dunkwa is made up of three traditional authorities namely Abura, Asebu and Kwamankese.

According to the Omanhene, since the creation of the district some twenty years ago, none of the District Chief Executives had been appointed from his area, whereas the two other traditional authorities have had their share.

He expressed regret that nobody from the Kwamankese area had been appointed as Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly.

Nana Andoh said the Nananom in his traditional area regard this as cheating or discrimination, because they have qualified people who are capable of holding the two positions.

He said two potential candidates from his area were among those who have applied for the position of the DCE and expressed the hope that the government would appoint one of them for the post.

Among those present at the press conference were the Twafohene, Nana Eduam Nsempa V111, Gyaasehene, Nana Kobina Baata V11, Sanaahen, Nana Gyasi Ataala V11, Nyimfahen, Nana Amoa Bekoe Annan X1 and Bekumhen, Nana Nyarko Entsil.
