Smart Drinks Company Limited on Tuesday donated 10 cartons Smart Energy Drinks and 40 'T' Shirts to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

The donation was in support of the ongoing one week training course for local boxing coaches in the country.

The course is under the technical guidance of Terry Edwards, head coach of British Amateur Boxing.

He is expected to take the participants through the rudiments of the sport as well as coaching techniques.

Mr Justice Amankwah who made the presentation, said his outfit deems it fit to support the growth and development of boxing in the country as part of their social responsibilities.

He said boxing remains one of the major sporting disciplines in the country which has over the years' brought a lot of honours to the nation both on the local and international levels hence the motivation to support the GBA.

Mr Amankwah said his company has plans of giving the sport further support in the course of the year and urged the coaches to transfer the skills they have acquired at the course to the grassroots level.

Moses Foh Amoaning, Chairman of Ghana Boxing Authority expressed appreciation to the company for their support and urged other corporate bodies to emulate their example.

He said even though boxing has brought more laurels to the nation, it has not received the needed corporate support for its growth and development and expressed the hope that other companies will come to their aid.

Commenting on the course, he said, participants are expected to come out as better coaches on its completion but charged them to send whatever knowledge they have acquired to the people at grassroots who need it most.
