Mr. David Akonfodze, assembly member for Akosombo-Krodua Electoral Area in Otuam, in the Mfantseman Municipality, has advised children from the town to eschew laziness, alcoholism, drug abuse and other vices that could affect their development.

He asked them to be inspired by the achievements of President John Evans Atta Mills, who hails from Otuam, and other great citizens from the area, to work hard to attain their goals in life.

Mr. Akonfodze, who was addressing school children at a parade to mark Ghana's 52nd Independence Anniversary at Otuam,

advised them to use their time judiciously instead of going to entertainment spots, wake-keepings and other social ceremonies.

He said “If President Mill and other great citizens of our area took interest in video shows or wasted their time at wake-keepings they might not have gotten to where they are now”.

Mr. Akonfodze appealed to parents to take good care of their children and invest in the education to enable them to become responsible citizens in future.

He asked adults to consider all children as their own and give them the necessary protection and said in the olden days any person could discipline a child for misbehaving.
