Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, Head of the Ewe community in the Ashanti Region, has said vengeance was counter productive to any nation's quest for peace and development.

He has therefore appealed to feuding factions in the northern part of the country to strive to always exercise restraint to avoid conflicts.

Togbui Fugah told the GNA in an interview in Kumasi that forgiveness was the only solution to conflicts and that vengeance had never solved any problem anywhere in the world.

“It is against this backdrop that I am advising my brothers and sisters in conflict zones in the country not to be instigated by their political, religious and ethnic differences to engage each other in confrontation, quarrel or vandalism”.

Togbui Fugah suggested the creation of special peace desks at Regional Co-ordinating councils in the country with headquarters at the Presidency to allow feuding people to lodge their complaints.

He also suggested to Members of Parliament, opinion leaders and traditional rulers especially in the three northern regions to brainstorm and commit resources to finding solutions to conflicts.

Togbui Fugah appealed to politicians, opinion leaders and social commentators to shun utterances and practices that might fuel conflicts.
