Five communities appeal to Feeder Roads for help

Five farming communities in the West Akim District in the Eastern Region, have appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate a 14-kilometre feeder road linking Adieso-Asamenkese road.

The communities are Domponiase, Odumkyere Daramang, Odeng, Daniel and Ampofo.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency after a meeting by the communities at Domponiase, Nana Annor Kwasi, Chief of Domponiase said due to the deplorable nature of the road, drivers were refusing to ply the road.

He said as a result farmers had no choice than to carry their farm produce on their heads to walk long distance to the marketing centres.

Nana Annor said an intervention by the Department would go a long way to help the farmers save time and money. He added that at present the farmers' perishable items such as tomatoes, oranges and papaws kept going bad.

He said school children and students especially those in Senior High School had also became victims since they had to walk long distance to school.
