The Tafo Town Council plans to rehabilitate all lorry parks and related facilities in its jurisdiction to enhance transportation in the area, an Assemblyman said.

Mr. Francis Ampadu, Assemblyman for Tafo Ahenburonum, said the rehabilitation involves re-gravelling, bituminizing, providing electricity and fencing the stations.

The project, which will be funded by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), aims at ensuring safety and security of commuters, especially in the evenings.

He was speaking at a meeting organized of Assembly members and transport unions and drivers at Tafo on Thursday.

Mr Ampadu asked the drivers to pay their taxes and levies promptly to the Assembly to enable it fulfil its obligation towards the people.

He also urged the transport unions to educate their members on motor traffic rules and regulations to ensure compliance and curb the increasing spate of road accidents.

Alhaji A. Sallas, Station Master, expressed concern about traffic congestion on the Kumasi-Mampong road and suggested the construction of more access roads to help check the problems.
