The lifeless body of the little girl TWO PERSONS, a young mother and her daughter were killed instantly in the late hours of Saturday when a cargo truck laden with motorbikes and bicycles rammed into their house.
The tragic incident occurred at the Accra Town area of the Oforikrom constituency in Kumasi where the woman, a hawker dealing in oranges and her daughter identified as Efua lived.
The driver of the truck with registration number GR 7364 N, was said to be testing the vehicle's condition on a road network in the area near the Oforikrom Police Station, after taking it to a mechanic shop for repair.
Sources said the truck's brakes failed causing the driver to lose control of it. After the truck killed mother and daughter, the driver fled.
While the woman believed to be in her late 20s, identified only as Abena had her right leg severed as the truck ran over her, her daughter's right arm was fractured resulting in her premature death.
An eyewitness, Murtala Abubakar told DAILY GUIDE that scores of residents of the area who rushed to the scene had to jack the vehicle up before they were able to remove the lifeless body of the woman.
The remains of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi while a formal complaint has been lodged with the police.
