Members of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies have been urged to be conversant with the Local Government Act 462 which established them and the standing Order to know what is expected of them.

Mr. Sampsom Amoako Kwarteng, Mfantseman Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) gave the advice at the swearing-in of 21 government appointees into the assembly.

Mr. Kwarteng held that, nobody could perform creditably if he or she did not know the rules regarding his or her work.

“Make the two documents your Bible to enable you to perform in conformity to their contents,” he stressed.

He urged members not to see revenue generation as the duty of collectors alone and said each and every member must support the drive.

“You must be watch dogs for the assembly in monitoring the performance of revenue collectors in your areas” he urged.

Mr. Enamel Kwesi Boakye, Ejumako-Enyan-Essiam District Magistrate performed the swearing in and advised them to live up to expectation.

The assembly elected two members to represent it on the electoral college which would elect the Central Regional representative on the council of State on Tuesday, February 24.

The assembly could not elect a presiding member due to directives from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to all assemblies without one to postpone their elections.
