The main objective of the fund is to seek ideas and contributions to the realisation of a business venture that will aim at strengthening the centre foundations of democracy, economic and social progress in the country.

The Minister-designate, said the establishment of the institution will enable WAMDEF mobilise funds for the sole purpose of providing credit facilities for media businesses in the sub-region.

He added that although WAMDEF has encouraged unprecedented level of public participation in public affairs, constant threats on media rights and the absence of sources of credit for the media to develop and grow their business are some of the challenges facing it.

Honorable Haruna Iddurisu, encouraged organisations to help support the institution through positive contribution and ideas to help make WAMDEF a realisation in the country.
