Dr. Bernard Glover, Proprietor of Villa Cisneros Resort Limited, at Sagakope, has called for the establishment of

technically-based universities to advance specific technologies for the growth of industries and the economy.

He said “Other third world countries, including India, began strengthening their manpower bases through targeted centres of higher learning, skifully linked with industry”.

Dr. Glover in an interview with GNA at the Weekend at Sogakope,

cited that technically-based universities would produce skilled manpower for the petroleum sector and salt mining in the country.

He said Ghana needed to take advantage of her huge potentials for commercial salt production and export to create wealth and jobs for the youth.

Dr. Glover, who is seeking election to represent the Volta Region on the Council of State, called for the establishment of a public university in the region to be based in Ho with campuses in other towns.

He promised to use his rich experience in tourism development and as chairman of the country's separate joint permanent commission for cooperation on tourism, with Benin and Cote d' Ivoire to develop the sector in the country.

Dr. Glover urged government to rehabilitate roads in the region to facilitate the development of tourism.
