A 16-member Ghanaian delegation left
Accra to Uganda over the weekend to participate in the Zain
Africa Challenge, a quiz competition among selected university
students from Africa.
They were selected from University of Cape Coast (UCC),
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST), University of Development Studies (UDS) and Valley
View University (VVU).
A statement issued by management of Zain in Accra and
signed by Ms Antoinette Atuah from the Public Relations
Department said students from Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Sierra
Leone, Zambia, Malawi and Uganda would also participate in the
competition that would be telecast live next month.
It said the competition sought to develop the intellect of the
African youth and highlight the excellent educational opportunities
offered by African Universities.
“Education is one of the major corporate social responsibility
for Zain and with an investment of over one million dollars shows
its commitment to education,” it said.
The contestants are expected to answer questions on history,
science, African culture, geography, literature, music and current
affairs.
