Nana Agyemang Duah, Chief of New-Sawireso in Asunafo South District, has urged Ghanaians not to politicize the National Health Insurance Scheme, since “sickness does not discriminate”.
“Health insurance is a collective scheme which borders on the life and health of Ghanaians”, he said, adding that “we need to support the scheme to improve upon health care delivery in the country”.
He appealed to all Ghanaians to do away with their political affiliations and embrace the scheme to make it work to the benefit of the entire citizenry.
Nana Duah gave the advice when he addressed community members at an annual harvest organised by the chiefs, assembly and unit committee members of the area.
Nana Duah said aside the health benefits, the scheme had further created employment in the areas of premium collection and other administrative functions.
He appealed to those who had not registered with the scheme to do so as early as possible.
