Management of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) on Tuesday asked companies interested in the purchase of coffee to apply to the Board for licence.

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Department of COCOBOD said it had come to the notice of Management that some companies which had not been licensed by the Board to purchase coffee, “are engaged in the purchasing of coffee.”

The statement advised the general public that only COCOBOD “has the mandate to regulate the Coffee Industry.”

It warned that the company would take legal action against companies found to be engaged in the purchase of Coffee without licence.

The statement said five companies namely, De Long Limited; Kassardjan Industries (Ghana) Limited; Lonto Limited; Mamita Coffee Product Limited; and Time Marketing Company Limited, had been licensed by COCOBOD to buy the product.

“Other Licensed-Buying Companies are entreated to contact the office of the Chief Executive for the regularization of their licenses,” it added.
