Timber contractor on GH¢5000 bail

A magistrate court at Bibiani has granted GH¢ 5000 bail to Asare Bediako, a 30-year-old timber contractor, for fraud.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Anneh told the court that the complainant Richard Asamoah, 39, was a dealer in lumber who lived at Kwadaso a suburb of Kumasi whilst the accused person resided at Sefwi Asawinso in the Western Region.

Prosecution said in March 2007, the accused person informed the complainant that he had timber concession at Sefwi Bodu and collected GH¢3000 from the complainant under the pretext of supplying him with lumber.

Dep. Supt. Anneh said the accused failed to honour his promise and all efforts made by the complainant to retrieve his money proved futile.
