GOSPLE MUSICIANS IN GHANA.

GOSPLE MUSICIANS IN GHANA.
14.01.2009 LISTEN

The rate at which gospel musicians are increasing is undoubtedly by the tick of a clock. I sometimes cogitate that a prophecy is coming true. This is pellucid.

These musicians mostly claim that they got the inspiration from the master brewer. Music as once said by William Congreve “ charms to soothe a savage breast” , but this is rather the opposite.

Being a music critic I listen to every song with the keenness it deserves and then pass mine comments. In gospel music, what happens is that most of them try to out Herod Herod by singing the same lyrics in a completely different way. This is not just working. These musicians are supposed to lead us to the light instead what I see is that they are leading us rather into Cimmerian darkness.

It is now certain that most of them sing for the material gains. Check out this scenario; a musician is singing about poverty and in the video, he/she dresses to kill, show luxury cars and magnificent domiciles. Just imagine how an indigent person who wishes to be consoled by this music feel seeing the musicians live in clover.

Ghanaians seem to be coping westerners in everything with the exception of gospel music. Listening to foreign gospel music can change your life for the better while that of our own can lead you astray.

It is not uncommon now to find these musicians audaciously demanding huge sums of monies after performing on shows. You can now hear gospel music that is claimed to be inspired by God being used at political rallies to amass votes for the candidates.

To give the devil his due, I still find just a handful of these musicians weathy to lead the course and these needless to say are being sabotaged by those I would call the “false prophets”

So next time you go to the music shop to buy a gospel album make sure you pick and chose and also remember that only the author of all creation who is no respecter of persons can bless you.

I end here with words of M.L. Haskins: I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year “give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown” and he replied “go out into the darkness and put your hand into God's. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way”.
