Kwame Amponfi Jnr, Secretary General of the Ghana Table Tennis Association has been elected the Vice President of the Africa Zone III Table Tennis Federation for a Four-year Term.

The Zone is composed of the following countries among others; Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cote D'Ivoire, Liberia, Guinea, Gambia, Niger, Togo, Benin and Ghana.

Mr. Amponfi"s election took place at the second Edition of the Africa Table Tennis Federation Laurent Gbagbo Championship and Annual General Meeting held in Abidjan, La Cote D'Ivoire from 18th -22nd December, 2008.

At the same programme, Coach Anthony Owusu Ansah, the Ag. Head Coach of the Ghana Table Tennis Association was Elected Youth Development Coach for the Africa Zone III Table Tennis Federation.

It would be recalled that, in February 2008, Mr. Amponfi Jnr was appointed International Table Tennis Umpires Examinations Administrator and Supervisor by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The Association gladly attributes the steady promotion of its Secretary General and the Ag. Head Coach to the Visionary Leadership of the Chief Executive and Management of the National Sports Council who first appointed the Officers to their respective National Positions.

But for the support of the National Sports Council and that of other GTTA stakeholders, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr and Coach Anthony Owusu Ansah would not have attained this International recognition.

Based on his contribution to the growth and development of Table Tennis in the Zone, It is gratifying to note that the Federation has conferred on SQD. LDR (RTD) EBO BARTELS the Honorary position of Patron for the Zone.
