For how long will Ghanaians allow themselves to be taken for fools? Are we discerning enough to tell the foxy pretensions from genuine claims? As a discerning critic, I am not convinced of the astuteness of many a Ghanaian. We are easily led astray by the manipulations of certain few individuals who in their mind's eye consider themselves smarter, and feel always steps ahead of their compatriots. The NDCs have since their very inception been throwing dust into people's eyes and once one begins to rub and scratch the eyes, they turn round to offer you assistance as though, they have nothing to do with the problem but just being a good Samaritan. They are the cause of most of the problems confronting Ghana at the moment. The NDC being perpetual power drunks had and have always miserably criticised the NPP on any policy undertaken whether good or bad. Is it the desired quality of a good citizen or a well-endowed politician to continually criticise irrespective of how good or bad a tabled policy is? Being completely amoral persons, the NDC find amusement in what intelligent people will term as vices of malevolence.
As Ghana has gone to the polls today, the NDC have avowed to wrench victory by hook or crook. They have resolutely determined to employ all foul means to emerge victorious from the ongoing runoff presidential election. An inquisitive mind may then want to know why this? The answer is not far fetched. The desperation of the NDC emanates from the simple fact that their failure to clinch victory this time will bring the likely visitation of untold hardships of various natures upon them. Reliable information amid rumours reaching me indicates that they have secretly pawned the discovered oilfields to a certain millionaire from whom a large loan has been taken to sponsor their electioneering campaign. No wonder their "do or die" intimidator campaign to secure victory tonight else how can they pay off the loan except to be disgracefully arraigned before the courts in Europe for duping a moneylender? They have part-sold the Ghana petroleum way ahead of its exploitation. If this is not corruption of the highest degree what else can be? If they have started on this bad footing where will they take the country, to the refuse dump of course? These self-righteous devils in angelic clothing should be viewed in their true colours but not in camouflages. Now I understand why they are determined than never before to set fire to Ghana to avoid the payment of the money advanced on the oilfields in case they lose. How many of us are benefiting from the money rumoured to have been taken by the NDC? How many of their activists are aware of the existence of such a deal? Why are they then foolishly going to die for these crooks? It is only a fool devoid of common sense and without humaneness for their impoverished family who will sacrifice their life on the altar for these dishonest but thieving politicians.
Should the government nonchalantly sit down twirling the fingers, gaping while the NDC carry out their planned nefarious activities? No. If I were the government, I would keep my wits about me in a crisis. The government must batten down its hatches before the elections. But did the NPP government do that? It is up to you in Ghana to tell. However, it is never too late to put in place the necessary strategies though nothing should have been left to contingency in the first place.
Dr. J. J. Rawlings, the serial coup d'etat maker is panting and raving as usual and will not hesitate to seize any least opportunity to cause uprising in the country, the NDC failing to win the election tonight. Should we allow this to happen? No. Should we then declare Atta Mills of the NDC the winner to calm down Rawlings even if Mr Mills gets defeated? No, No, and a BIG NO!!! What else do we do then? We don't have to bury our heads in the sand behaving like the proverbial ostrich, thinking nothing is happening while the entire surrounding is in inferno of battle and half-baked bodies. Get troops of trusted army to man the GBC, various Television stations and almost all the radio stations in especially, Accra. This will deter any opportunist of any sort from seizing any of these stations from where to cause commotion in the country by broadcasting on the airwaves of any likely uprising. Prevention is better than cure. Coup making is not impossibility, a false idea Ghanaians have delusively been made to cherish since NPP took over power from the intransigent Rawlings' NDC eight years ago. It suffice for an idiotic opportunist of some sort to seize the GBC in arms and put out an announcement and impose a curfew, the job becomes a done deal. Will the NDC not take after such a circumstance with jubilation to accord such an uprising some sort of legitimacy?
Be as clever as the serpent, the NPP government. The last days are dangerous. The last lap of the race is always the most difficult. Kufuor administration, be vigilant and leave nothing to chance else, you will bite your finger murmuring the words, "had I known", but which is always at last and even "Okomfo Anokye" never had antidote to it tried as he did. A wise word to Kufuor and the NPP should be enough. I am discoursing in proverbs, talking to your mind/ear but not to your okra-mouth.
Whichever of the two contesting presidential candidates who gets elected by God and the Ghanaian electorates will be my president. I will accord him due respect. But until then, Nana Akufo Addo is my preferred choice regardless of the NDC's dirty ploys. Vote massively to elect a competent leader but not a poodle who is not a man of his own.
