Merry Christmas: A Change for the Better with Nana Akufo Addo to Move Ghana Forward

I wish all my fellow Ghanaians Merry Christmas irrespective of where you are, and whatever your political ideology and inclination are. I am sure many are those that feel this Christmas is not as enjoyable as they might have anticipated. Their reason simply being until the political uncertainty hovering over which of the two contesting presidential candidates Ghanaians will settle for is cleared, they are not of themselves and that to them, there is no cause for merry making. Though I am myself wedged or sandwiched between the same awkward situations, the fact that it is the end of year alone suffices the concomitant merriment as usual.

I am pleased to learn of the various political slogans by the two presidential candidates namely, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo of the NPP, and Professor Evans John Atta Mills of the NDC. Nana has promised to move Ghana forward by building on the solid rock macroeconomic foundation laid by President J.A. Kufuor. With Nana at the oars of the NPP boat is a change in itself. He is a man of himself, reasons and can initiate and implement bold policies in the interest of Ghana and Ghanaians. He will embrace and build upon the good policies of Kufuor, shun any bad policies if any, and introduce his own better policies. He is a listening fellow and I can vouch for that. Is his effective articulation of anticipatory policies a symptom of arrogance as it is the erroneous perception of many a NDC activist or stalwart supporter?

Professor Mills is on the other hand campaigning for a CHANGE of government based on his philosophized "Yeresesamu" slogan. One thing I will advise intelligent Ghanaians to bear in mind is a change comes in two. There is a change for the better and there is also a change for the worse. Which change is he alluding to? His "Yeresesamu" and "Adepa ba fie a oye" are a simplistic facade, an artificial or a deceptive front. They are just ideological slogans that are a facade for geopolitical power struggles. He is said to be humble, docile, God-fearing and respectful. Are they sufficient criteria based on which one is elected for the office of the presidency of Ghana? No, No, and a big NO!

The president of Ghana must be a listening person, friendly, fair but firm. He must be Charismatic, a man of his own with fortitude, endurance and a vision for the better. He must be able to move the country positively forward by initiating and implementing sound but bold socio-politico-economic policies. Which of these two sets of criteria will you go for when voting for the president of Ghana? Which of these two contestants fits into the better of the two criteria as stipulated above? To my best of intentions as a candid critic, Nana Akufo Addo is not only the safer but the better choice and bet. I am a devout Christian but with the Ghanaian religiosity, Ghana will neither move forward nor stagnate but retrogress. Being God-fearing in the honest sense coupled with unbiased sound mind able to take bold and fair policy decisions, Ghana will move forward. Is Atta Mills of this sort of person? No! He is dictated to by the Former President J. J. Rawlings which fact is undeniably obvious. Rawlings is not only vindictive, but geopolitically divisive. I wonder how a man with a percentage of Whiteman's blood in him can whip up such a dangerous degree of tribal sentiments in Ghanaians at national elections. Vote for Atta Mills and you have the revisitation of the heinous reign of Rawlings for free. Atta Mills in the political arena of Ghana is a promotional sale of "Buy one get one free". Vote for Atta Mills and you get Rawlings trailing in for free with a baggage of vengeance.

Most of the NDCs are moronically aggressive. They are always on the beat, sniffing and panting, looking to go on the offensive while unprovoked. Every page of their life as I leaf through the book of their sadistic life story confirms my worst nightmare. Even wild beasts can be domesticated to comport themselves as human companions but not the majority of the NDCs if not all. The genesis of the NDC is violence. And as it is with, "Naked I came from my mother, and naked I will return", so shall it be with NDC. "Violence the party came into existence, and violence shall it continue on to the end of the world". The NDC is causing unnecessary commotion in the country on daily basis and in the appropriate time, they will reap the undesirable fruits of their labour. Is it hard for them to preach peace and aspire for harmonious co-existence between all tribes and people of the different political divides? It is over to you, the NDC warmongers. Ghanaians are fed up with their machismo threats which are on the ascendancy. They have always predicted the visitation of brimstone upon Ghana should they not be voted into power. They will surely be the first to be consumed by that fiery war fire that will engulf Ghana should their prayer towards that end come to pass. Bear in mind, "The wicked priest prophesying for the destruction of his nation will also be destroyed when his prediction materialises"

The sky is only the limit to which the NDC can lie. "Il ment comme il respire" (French meaning, he lies at the same crescendo as he breathes) as once said to a friend by a French work colleague. They have promised to put money in the pockets of every citizen. How is this feasible if people fail to work harder themselves? All the structures are in place for one to make money if and only if, the person will desire to seize the opportunity. There is no country where there is not the issue of unemployment. This problem is not unique to Ghana. The government will put in place the needed facilitators and such careful planning will facilitate any kind of work. It is then up to us as individuals to avail ourselves of the opportunities. No government apart from the hallucinating NDC can dish money out to people. Ask these lying tongues the question, "where and how will you get the money to fill my pocket, and if I were lazy?"

Fellow Ghanaians, let us not settle for the cheap politics of deceit. Let us not settle for the acrimonious politics of the NDC. Let us stand up taller to challenge the NDC in case we can tame them to become human friendly. Much as I detest seeing the NPP rig the election which is impossible, much the same vein will I hate to see the NDC attempt to rig the election from the backbench. The sporadic minor incidents in the Ashanti region bordering on political rivalry with the possible attendant mayhem are to be condemned without reservation. Let us learn to live in peace and in harmony with one another regardless of our political affiliations. We are in the end, one nation, one people, and with a common destiny.
