The Presiding Member of Effutu Municipal Assembly, Mr Alex Afenyo Markin on Tuesday urged the members to educate their electorate on the need for a peaceful 2008 Presidential Election Runoff on December 28 2008.

He said the good comportment they exhibited during and after the December 7 elections that led to a peaceful election, should be maintained.

Mr Markin said this at a general meeting of the Assembly in Winneba, where it approved the fee-fixing resolution for the 2009 fiscal year.

Mr Markin expressed displeasure at how political campaigns were being carried out in the Municipality and advised that it should be issue-based and not on tribalism.

The PM commended the assembly members for their hard work and dedication to duty that had led most of their electoral areas to see some development.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Robert Andrews Ghunney said next year would be eventful and challenging for the Municipality in terms of revenue mobilization.

Mr Ghunney said the Assembly would explore more income generation avenues to improve its Internally Generated Funds to support developmental projects in the area.

According to him, the Assembly has started the registration of houses to enable property rates to be collected on them.
