The South Central Ghana Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church, in collaboration with Opportunities Industrialization Centres (OIC) International, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), made a donation to the Cherubs Orphanage at Ampampatia near Apire in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Food items worth GH¢ 600 and clothing, stationery and toys were presented to the facility by Mrs. Theodora Nsiah, Director of the Women's Ministry Department of the Church, who was accompanied by Pastor Gabriel Kofi Kwarteng the Youth Communication, Chaplaincy Director of the Conference.
She said the gesture was in response to a request for assistance made by the NGO.
Mrs Nsiah said some of the donations were taken from the various District Churches of the Conference and the Jesus the King, Essianimpong Orphanage, and Prisons also benefited from the package.
Receiving the items, Elder Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Proprietor of the Orphanage, commended the Church for the donation.
He appealed to individuals and organisations to support the Orphanage, particularly to acquire a permanent building for inmates who were occupying rented premises.
Mrs. Regina Boakye, Assistant Programme Officer of OIC, said the NGO was committed to assisting orphans and People Living With HIV/AIDS.
