Marks on Nana Addo's head: NDC demands explanations

The opposition National Democratic Congress has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) to “come clear” on a plethora hitches that they say could derail the success of the national polling exercise.

The NDC said it has received reports of “ticks” and “marks” against the name of the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, at some polling stations around the country.

At a press conference at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra, deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, among other party youth leaders, said its intelligence had gathered that the Tamale Central and Wa Central constituencies were some of the places such issues had been recorded.

“It's important to let the people of Ghana know that there are some ballot papers where there have been some sort of ticking on Nana Akufo Addo's name.

“And we are calling on the EC to explain to us, it is unfair; it's never happened in any election and they have to come out clearly,” they said.Joy News' correspondents in Tamale confirmed the matter, explaining that some young men had stormed the polling centre with the marked ballots and attempted to show the electorate how to vote but said the perpetrators had been arrested by the police.
