Acute water shortage has hit parts of the Gomoa West District in the Central Region.
The worst affected are educational institutions in the area, particularly, Apam Senior High School and Dawurampong Senior High Technical School.
Mr. Anthony Jacklingo Quansah, headmaster of the Senior High Technical School, addressing a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), meeting at the school, said GHC 210 worth of water was bought by the school daily from water tanker operators.
He said the water problem was draining the scarce resources of the school and it would compel the authorities to end the term early if the situation did not improve.
Mr. Quansah appealed to parents to send water to their children in the school.
He also appealed to parents to register the children with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to have access to free medical care instead of the school paying medical bills of students.
Mr. Quansah advised parents to pay their children's school fees promptly for the students to have uninterrupted classes.
Mr. Fred Oscar Abban, assistant headmaster, urged parents to furnish the school with their current addresses.
He said wrong addresses provided by the students, especially those who did not do well in examinations, prevented terminal reports from reaching their parents. Mr. R.O. Duodu, chairman of the PTA, appealed to the Ghana Education Service and Gomoa District Assembly to build boys' for the school and additional classrooms and staff accommodation.
