The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), in collaboration with the 145 District Mutual Health Insurance schemes (DMHIS), would embark on an awareness walk throughout the country from December 1.
A statement signed by Mr Ras Boateng, NHIA Chief Executive, said the programme aimed at stepping up education on the NHIS and informing the public about steps being taken to address the concerns of subscribers.
The statement said on Monday December 1, the district DMHIS and the general public would undertake awareness walk amidst drumming though the district capitals.
The schemes would step up registration of pregnant women and others at the end of the walk.
On December 2, apart from carrying out health checks in the regional and district capitals and educating the public on preventive care, the DMHIS would also undertake clean-up exercises with support from Zoom Lion.
On December 3 mutual health insurance schemes in Accra and Tema metropolis would embark on floats in the eight scheme areas namely Ga District, Tema, Kpeshie, Osu Klotey, Ashiedu Keteke, Ablekuma, Ayawaso and Okaikoi. Finally, on Thursday December 4, President John Agyekum Kufuor would address a durbar at Dodowa in the Dangme West District to round off the awareness walk programme.
