Spectator investigations have uncovered an emerging phenomenon where opportunistic and unscrupulous ladies harness spiritual powers to milk wealthy men to the point of financial hopelessness.

In return, they offer irresistible romance and sex to seal the spiritual deal, after which the victim is enslaved.

Some residents of the capital call it "Female Sakawa." One of the spiritual vampires who have impoverished a handful of well-to-do men is a young woman of about 25 years, beautiful and seductive looking.

A young man who gave his name as Banyi and was one of the two young men who sent the lady to a jujuman for the spiritual power told the Spectator the story on condition that the name of the young woman who lives around Agbogbloshie, would not be disclosed in the story.

According to Banyi, the young woman approached his friends to assist her acquire powers which could charm men to love her and copulsorily give her whatever she demands, until the man goes financially insolvent. The interview was as follows.

SPEC: What did she say prompted her to look for such powers?
BANYI: She said money. She wants to get money and valuables from men without sweat, whether the men liked it or not.

SPEC: Who are her targets?
BANYI: The rich in society.

SPEC: How does she get the men?
BANYI: She is always neatly dressed and does not appear to be of any suspicious character. As a result wherever she goes, be it market-places, workplaces, including the ministries area, she fishes out for people said to be loaded with cash, irrespective of whether the person's, money is gotten through genuine means or not. All she wants is a rich man who can supply her needs.

SPEC: How is the power actually obtained?
BANYI: She was made to go through some rituals and also given some perfume; some of her friends said they were given lipsticks shine ('gloss ponce') or face powder to use whenever they are going, out to work in town. "

SPEC: So how do these things work?
BANYI: The spiritual powers in these things make her exceptionally attractive to men. As such a man would do all things possible to befriend her. The more a man allows his body to touch her, the more his desire for a relationship. In fact, the man virtually becomes a slave to her if he goes to bed with her. He would do all within his limits to provide whatever she demands. A man who falls prey to her might even ignore his wife and children and continue to channel all his income to satisfy her.

SPEC: How many men have fallen prey to her?
BANYI: They are many.

SPEC: How much does she normally demand on the average from her men?
BANYI: GH¢100 or ¢1 million (old cedis) which she says they pay cash.
SPEC: What do the men say they find so special in her?
BANYI: They enjoy the way she handles them in bed. They enjoy her in an exceptional manner.

SPEC: How does she spend the money she gets?
BANYI: She spends it on make-ups and dresses, and spends lavishly with her friends.

SPEC: For how long can the power work?
BANYI: It works for years, but has to be renewed yearly.

SPEC: Does the young lady intend to marry in future?
BANYI: She hopes to have one or two children but not marriage. She keeps telling us she doesn't want any man to worry her in life. She wants to be free to enjoy life.

SPEC: Is she aware that there could be punishment for using such powers?
BANYI: All she cares about is how to get money and enjoy life now. She often says that she does not fear the consequences of her actions, not even death.
